Frequently Asked Questions
Can PET be injection molded?
Yes, but it requires: (1) drying at 150-160°C for 4-6 hours to <0.005% moisture, (2) mold temperature 80-110°C to achieve crystallinity, (3) fast injection speeds to prevent premature solidification. PET injection molding is common for preforms (later blow-molded into bottles) and electrical connectors. The narrow processing window makes PET more challenging than most engineering plastics.
